February 2017: The Wisdom of Preparing for Glory

Wisdom is the principal key and its application gives glory to God and Man

Wisdom is the application of knowledge and it was a vital tool to Jesus ministry, for His famous saying was “I do as I see my father do”. He understudied God and apply such wisdom in His earthly realm ministration, He had divine revelation and applied it graciously all through his sojourn on earth and that meant that he was never surprised. He stayed in tune with the source of his wisdom.

Dictionary Meaning: the ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgments:

***Wisdom seeks knowledge and gain understanding***

This was a revelation that Solomon also caught that his only request to God when he became King was that God should give him wisdom and by so doing he acquired wealth beyond his own imagination. (1 Kings 3: 1-15)

Proverb 3: 13-14 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold.

In preparing to established the earth, one would observed that the Spirit of God first hovered around the surface, that was the Lord examining and surveying, taking Stock and analysing the best form of possible action, then the Lord spoke which denoted He took action by pronouncement that “let there be light” releasing a power of performance, first thing first the Lord prioritised Light to be important for darkness was over the surface, there was a need for light which brings about visibility and it overpowered darkness. By this, order and procedure was set in place for delivery of every other thing that needed to take place. Wisdom of planning gives foresight and focus on the end goal.

Genesis 1: 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Proverbs 3:19-20 The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew.

In the second stage we will observe that God saw that the light was good, God began to identify and prioritise things and saw that light was essential and that light had taken darkness into the shadows then God initiated the separation of light, light became the essential commodity that brought life. When you receive light into a situation, clarity sets in, Wisdom begins to propel you to achievement.

Genesis 1: 4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.

Life is perceive to come of God’s wisdom, for he ordained all things through careful preparation and understanding. That is why it is said the wise shall rule the world, wisdom allows you to be prudent and careful, and it gives you ability to think before you react. God went through the stages of creation because He started well by following procedure and He applied principles of order and systematic approach of doing first thing first with the end goal in mind. God’s end goal was the creation of man, but He took decision of putting everything else in place before He created man in His image. God did a research of the situation by hovering in the Spirit and compiling information that led to making accurate decision regarding every stages of creation.

Luke 14:28 NIV Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

Wisdom allows for advance thoughts and pre planned solution which God had put in place even before the fall of man, He had prepared the sacrifices necessary for the redemption before eternity. God has made man in his image but had not given him the fullness of his ability to think and reason totally like him, so that man does not have the capacity of God’s wisdom. God gave man freewill to seek Him and worship and that man should partner with Him to achieve goals in life.

Proverbs 21:5 The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

***Knowledge is key and powerful***

God’s wisdom of planning is always ahead of man, a typical example can be found in the dialogue between Prophet Elijah and God in 1 Kings 9: 9-18 when Elijah in his own knowledge believed that he was the only prophet left for the people of Israel and God’s response was “I Have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal”

***The ways of God are past finding out***

God’s ability to make provision abound should easily be noted in this exchanges so when we presumptuously believe in our ability, we might be set up for correction if we do not seek the Lord’s Counsel in every stage of planning for glory. For a man’s heart might plan a thing but it is God who establishes and bring it to pass. Where man’s will, knowledge, wisdom expires that is the beginning of God’s wisdom for He is the father of all Wisdom and the bible makes us realise that the Lord uses the foolishness of this world to confound the wisest of the world.

Romans 11: 33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

James 1: 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

***Wisdom empowers you***

The ant colony demonstrates the wisdom of preparation and advance planning as all through the summer they gather and store their food away for winter without a distinctive leader among them and not only that they tackle obstacles and make rooms for unseen circumstances taking on items five times their sizes. This can be liken to the time of Noah, when the master planner Jehovah El Shaddai, Jehovah Elohim told him to gather food enough for the Journey on the Ark in Genesis 6: 21.

Proverbs 6: 6-8 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

The parable of the ten virgins is another illustration of how we should be prepared for the coming of our glory, five of the virgins exercised wisdom and were prudent enough to make sure they were prepared for the inevitable by bringing along extra oil for their lanterns and as such they were able to meet the bridegroom even though he came late and the others missed out because of lack of planning and foresight in preparation. (See Matthew 25:1-13)

Proverbs 27: 12 NIV “A prudent person foresees the danger ahead and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.”

***Preparation is key***

There is wisdom in planning for seed time and harvest time, when the seed goes to the ground, there is expectation of it germinating to a good harvest, but the farmer does not leave this to chance, for he waters, tend its surrounding, keep away infectious insects, nurture until that which has gone in as a seed into the ground brings forth many of its kind and he does not plant maize in the season when he should be planting apples. In many seasons of time, he had understudied the circle of planting the right crop at the right time and he understands the seasons of the weathers and their contribution to his harvest time. In other words he appreciates God impute to his crops.

Our contribution to attaining glory is to study (2Timothy 2:15) which gets us to place of approval with God. Basically, if we don’t prepare, we aren’t approved. The Scripture portion that exhorts us to be instant in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2) is really telling us to be prepared at all times.

Isaiah 28:29 NIV All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent.

Proverbs 4: 7-9 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honour, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you.

Joseph in all his sojourn in the wilderness of life not only had the ability to interpret dreams but also acquired divine wisdom which he applied to the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream by giving the solutions to deal with the lean years ahead, which was what prompted him to be made the second in command in Egypt. He showed Pharaoh the diligence of preparation.

Genesis 41: 34-36 Let Pharaoh proceed to appoint overseers over the land and take one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plentiful years. And let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it. That food shall be a reserve for the land against the seven years of famine that are to occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish through the famine.”

***Two things we need to prepare for: Life’s Challenges (Winter) and God’s Blessings (Harvest). ***

Before we can reap the harvest, we need to prepare for the harvest. God wants to bless you, BUT God might not bless you until you are ready

Proverbs 31:21, speaking of the virtuous woman, says, “When it snows, she has no fear for her household.” Why? SHE HAS PREPARED

***Preparation is key to Glory***

What efforts we input gives us opportunity for greater things with God and this was the lesson Jesus passed across in the story of the servants giving various talents by their master but the one with the least talent instead for preparing for glory decided to bury the one talent given to him with no yield to any interest.

“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things” (Matthew 25:23). You can build your life on this spiritual principle: In order to get in on the big things, we must first learn to be faithful in the little things. Jesus also said… “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?” (Luke 16:10-11). What’s He talking about? He’s talking about preparing your heart, your soul, your life for the blessings God wants to send your way

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

God wants to bless you in this season but how prepared are you, what effort are you putting in personally, how prepared for glory are you?

Note: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Jesus was prepared for the fulfilment of his mission on earth and his actions and responses to His disciples shows that every little details have be thought of before eternity which is why He was confident that the upper room will be ready and prepared for his final fellowship with them. He was also confident that the Lord will glorify Himself in him by raising Him from the death and giving him a name above any other name for His obedience and commitment to the task the father had set before Him. Jesus Christ knew the plan to provide redemption for all of mankind long before leaving heaven to carry it through. He was prepared for the glorification

Mark 14:14 Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us.”

***Wisdom gives insight***

God obviously expects us to prepare for glory. He has given to us a number of clear principles along with some great examples. He makes it clear that we are not to trust our own plans and strategies and ignore the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is only after we seek the heart of God and His direction that we can establish plans that are pleasing to Him and plans that will bring us into glory.

We pray that the God of all wisdom will grant you wisdom knowledge and understanding above all things in Jesus name. Amen
