DECEMBER 2017 : : I cried out, The Lord Answered Me

The warfare of the enemy is seasonal; but the favour of God upon our lives is eternal and therefore the devil or his cohorts cannot hold down anyone forever.

When a believer understands the grace coverage of God upon their lives then he/she is able to stand against the wiles of the enemies because the favour of God declares and his power demonstrates which gives him the confidence and assurance to cry out to the Lord.

Psalm 56: 9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

Crying out is a form of prayer but from a deep sense of urgency and a need to have an immediate response.
Prayer is a communication tool; this tool is what man uses to communicate with a divine Father. In prayer we can
• Give thanks
• Plead
• Intercede
• Converse
Key: it is a two way communication, speaking and listening to God

Throughout history, believers have cried out, sometimes out of many years of prayer and then a single cry out brings an urgent response from God. Personally we cry out to draw immediate attention to a specific thing.

A cry out is a spontaneous response to an urgent need usually centred on one thing such as
• Immediate specific need
• It could be motivated by an immediate danger
• It could be a response to pain or hurt
• It could be response to an accomplishment or joyful act
• A reaction to heart-breaking news

***Biblically a cry out is an intense petition, response to a sense of desperation. ***

Characteristics
 It comes from the depth of the heart
 It acknowledges that we are facing danger
 We become fearful
 We recognise our need for God’s supernatural power to work
 We cry out in faith
 We need the mercy of God
 We recognise our helplessness and inability to do something ourselves.

There are powerful results from crying out unto God, because He responses to a desperate and dependent child in need of His care, attention and Power. The prophet Isaiah expresses the response of the Lord to the affection a mother would have for her nursing child and points out that even though the earthly mother may not answer but the Lord would answer to our cry out because we are the apple of His eye and He has inscribed our names on the Palms of His hands.

Isaiah 49: 15
“Can a woman forget her nursing Child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? …

***God is not human, that he should lie, not a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil? ***

There are various forms of Crying out.
• A cry of deep distress (Zaaq-Hebrew) , At the red sea, the people of Israel cried out in distress (See Nehemiah 9:9-11; Psalm 9:12)
• A cry out for help (Tsaaq-Hebrew), Moses cried out for help to locate water the Israelites (Exodus 15:25) Blind

In Crying Out there must be
