August 2015: El Elyon: Restore Breath of life to My Dead and Dry Bones

Sometimes we experience Spiritual emptiness in our lives which makes us comes to a standstill and at these times we find it difficult to carry on praying because we are overwhelmed by situations that feels insurmountable. There seems to be problems in everything such as relationships, business, work, debts, finances, and ministries, suffering various infirmity, barrenness, emptiness, dryness of good things, poverty or lack, ill favour, and above all spiritual dryness or lack of God’s power among many other misgivings. These experiences can significantly be liken to a period of deadness and dry bones in the valley. The valley represents a low point in our lives as was illustrated to the Prophet in the vision in Ezekiel 37: 1-10 and what is significant in this vision is the prophet’s realisation that God’s power is immeasurable.

Ezekiel 37: 3 And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.

*** For with man it is impossible but all is possible with God***

Note: Prophet Ezekiel was fully aware that for any restoration or revival to take place in the deadness and dryness of the bones it was totally dependent on God. We must come to this realisation before there can be a change in our situation to the glory of God.

There must be a realisation as to the hopelessness in our own inability to resolve the situation and an affirmation that God is able to do all things for those that are called according to His purpose. The prodigal son also came to this realisation in the sinful state he was as stated in Luke 15:17 and affirmed that he was better off going back to his father. If sins reigns in our body and it controls our life then we have spiritual death. God can leave us to our devises and fleshy intuitions until we arrive at a place of reasoning and acceptance of His supreme being. The heavens will also rejoice when there is a conversion of a soul from its sinful nature to that which is right with God.

Isaiah 1: 18 Come now, and let us reason together Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow

Luke 15:24 for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

Disobedience can bring us into a place of captivity and spiritual death as it was with the Israelites in their Babylonian exile where they were completely dry spiritually, physically, financially and materially. The Israelites became carnally minded, lost the purpose and benefits of God’s covenanted promises and blessings in their lives and nation through disobedience to God’s command. But God remained faithful.

2 Chronicles 7: 14-15 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. "Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.…

*** You cannot serve two masters, either you serve one and leave the other***

We can come into a place of deadness and dryness sometime through the test of faith as it was for Job in the book of Job 1:9 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? But the beauty is that when we hold on to the confession of our faith and remain strong in the Lord we have assurance of a better latter days.

Job 42:12-13 Now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. He also had seven sons and three daughters.

In the case of barrenness such as experienced by Hannah in the book of 1 Samuel 1:6-7…. because the Lord had closed her womb. So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord … therefore she wept and did not eat.

In this situation the bible makes us realise that Hannah never stop from going to the house of the Lord and that actually she recognises her hopelessness and cried out the more to the Lord in prayer knowing that God was the only answer to her problems in verse 10 the bible says that she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish and in verse 11 she made a vow to back up her request to God. It came to fruition and she bore a boy named Samuel and she kept her vow to the Lord.

ISAIAH 55: 8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

God sees our situations most especially the terrible situations of His people attracts Him more than any other. When He sees, He acts to deliver, most often when His people cry to Him. God is full of compassion for us His children, no matter how hard and serious the problems we found ourselves in, whether through disobedience or ignorance or procrastination. God is also full of good thoughts of peace and not of evil for us. This is the first thing we must know and have confidence in whenever we find ourselves in the valley of life exile and captivity.

Crying out can be liken to the prophesy made by Ezekiel as was instructed by God in verse 4-5 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live.

***There is no other God beside Him for only God is El Olam (Everlasting God) ***

The word of God is potent and so powerful that it will infuse a new life into that which appears dead. There is always inherent power in the word of God that enable us to do whatever He commands as was demonstrated by Christ Jesus in John 5: 5-9, the man with the infirmity for thirty eights walked and in Mark 1: 40-42, firstly the man was aware of his helplessness and hopeless state but he also knew who could change His situation and he obeyed the spoken word and was healed.

Where our resources are exhausted and situation becomes futile as was experienced by Simon in Luke 5:1-11, we can count on the word of God, Jesus made them go back to the spot where it was impossible for them to make a catch initially by themselves and turned impossibility into abundance because the presence and word of God created a newness in the atmosphere for the change in circumstances.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope…….I will be found by you, says the Lord, ….

When one is in this position of deadness and the bones are dry, there are three things that need to take place.

• We must grasp what could be the cause of the situation; Sin, disobedience or test of faith
• We must appreciate our limitation and Cry out or prophesy to the situation through the word of God.
• Know that God is the only one that can breathe life, revive and restore and that He is an orderly God that will perform in the stages of body first then breathe.

Isaiah 44: 3 “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed and my blessing upon thine offspring

Restoration and Revival is of God and only He alone has the power and withal to do just that, a man of God can prophesy into a situation only at the command of God that it is when it can become spiritually fruitful for God has the grace, mercy and compassion to revamp all situation.

We love you, remain in faith and believe always that God has your best interest at hand.
